Adwords Phising

Haven’t blogged in an age, but thought that this was worth “putting out there” in case it catches anyone else.  Some scrote is sending out millions of Adwords phishing emails at the moment, trying to con publishers in to giving out their account details.  I’ve received 2 dozen copies of this to various accounts today alone.

Below is a sample of one of the emails:

The last 51 weeks

Doesn’t time fly eh?  It’s been a week short of a full year since I last put a post up on this site.  The combination of having a very busy year, needing to get my priorities straight, and buggering up the website some-what interrupted the flow of posts for a while, but now I am back.

So what have I been up to over the last year?

I love tea

I Love teaI’ve been finding work hard this week, so thought I would explore other avenues (well, it’s always good to know what’s out there). Here is a message I sent via the PG Tips website:

Hello,

I really like tea (PG Tips being my preferred blend) and think that I have a natural talent for the drinking of it.

I already spend a large part of my working day drinking tea and wondered whether I should be looking at utilising this work skill on a more formal basis.

Please could you tell me whether PG are currently seeking to recruit full or part-time tea tasters.

Many thanks.

Mat Bennett.

Wonder whether I will get a reply

Just found this one as well!

Latin Dictionary

Just adding a quick note so that I can find this again in the future. Spent ages trying to find a good latin dictionary / translator online for something I was working on a while ago, and didn’t have much luck. Stumbled on this one by accident today.

Crank calling for dummies

Crank CallsJust a little tip: If you are ever going to make threatening phone calls to someone then make sure that you withhold your number first.

The bright spark who did this to one of the guys in the office today took about 20 minutes to realise what he had done before calling back with his number withheld in order to clear the memory of it. Not only was this too late, but our phone system holds the last 150 numbers anyway. Way to go Einstein.

The most interesting suggestion as to how to use this genius’s number wins a pint.

Photo Friday

I seem to be getting into a bit of a rut with my picture taking and ending up with hundreds of pictures of Groynes on Hayling beach. Their convenient and always make a good picture, but I thought I’d have a little look around for ideas for mini photo projects / challenges to make me experiment a bit more.

Searching around for ideas I found PhotoFriday.com. This site sets a new challenge every week and gets people to send in pictures meeting the criteria they set. Although almost all of the photographers are leaps and bounds ahead of me I think I might give it a whirl.

Mailorder Chickens

Accidentally stumbled across this site the other day. Weird but brilliant! Now if I can just get the “My Chicken’s gone to heaven” song out of my head…

MSN PageRank 2

MSN PR 2Well, Google PageRank and Backlinks have updated and I can’t help think that either something is not quite right, or Google have decided to put the knife in with one of their big rivals.

MSN.com is currently showing as having a PageRank of 2 !

Just like Wagamama used to make

WagamamaI’ve loved Japanese food for a while, but never really get to enjoy it. The nearest japanese restaurant that I know of is about 60 miles from where I live and I’ve never tried making any myself.

When we were recently away in York we had a great meal at the Buzz Bar, a great informal restaurant offering equally informal Japanese food. This rekindles my interest in trying it at home.

We’ve now taken delivery of the Wagamama cookbook from Amazon (link below if you want it). Although maybe not the more authentic cuisine around, I thought Wagamama recipes would be a good starting point as their whole operation seems to be geared to preparing meals quickly and you can never have enough ideas for quick meals.

The only thing left to do now is to stock up on some the ingredients. Hayling, where I live, is not the most cosmopolitan place in the world so this will probably mean a few online purchases.
