Reflective Truelife Screen

This is the original TrueLife shiny screen, as supplied. The reflections visible in the screen are from another monitor a few feet away and from my office window which is 20+ feet from where the laptop is.

Hi. I’m about to place an order for Inspiron 1520 but still can’t have a clear idea about the LCD to pick. I definitely want an ANTI-GLARE screen (with no reflection). The four options are:
    1) 15.4″ Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display [Included in Price]
    2) 15.4″ Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™ [add £11.75]
    3) 15.4″ Widescreen WXGA (1440×900) TFT Display with TrueLife™ [add £47.00 or £1/month1]
    4) 15.4″ UltraSharp™ Widescreen WSXGA (1680×1050) TFT Display with TrueLife™ [add £105.75 or £3/month1].

In the last 5 days I spoke 10 times to Dell sales and Tech support. After getting 10 different answers, I got in touch with an LCD expert in Dell/Ireland that explained well the difference and convinced me to go for the WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™.
If we are debating on GLOSSY vs ANTI-GLARE, the issue should not be Truelife vs NonTrue Life. The issue should be Truelife with high resolution VS Truelife with low resolution.

If you want an anti-glare LCD screen you should go for option 2 (according to Dell). This matched with some review I found on the internet.

    Anyone agrees with me?

I just cancelled my order with Dell. Re-ordered without True-Life. Dell now offers True-life at no added cost (wonder why!)..

Dell SB: Vostro 1500 Laptop Core 2 Duo T5470– NO TRUE-LIFE..

Thanks so much for this site. Helped alot.

Thanks for posting up these photos and comments - they’ve been very helpful. Oh and by the way, it IS easy to change a screen in a laptop ~ I changed the screen inverter in mine, although I had to borrow a set of those little precision screwdrivers from my brother :-))
    Regards
    Susie
