After - replacement screen
This is the same laptop with the replacement screen fitted. Please remember that this is a CHEAPER screen than the original. The conditions of the photo are exactly the same, but as you can see the reflection has almost gone.

.
Hey … Would you please re-take the ‘after” -replacement screen pic…
You need to adjust the angle of the display so it’s a straight on shot more so- It should make the display appear “brighter”… it looks like the display is angled back much further- camera being at a angle- causing the screen to appear duller. In addition when taking the pic try to get the exact angle that shows the window in the background, try to take pic at same time of day (same outdoor lighting conditions - I.E if first pic was taken with it BRIGHT and sunny- Don’t use a pic with outdoor conditions bein overcast /rainy.
Thanks… been linking people to your site..

Cheers for the link - I had spotted some fatwallet traffic in the logs.
Sadly It would be hard to redo the photos now. I’m not even in that office any more. For a good comparison, I’d need to refit the truelife screen - which I am not planning to do!
The two pictures were taken within a few minutes of each other though and the conditions hadn’t really changed. I really took the picture for my own comparison (not expecting the difference to be quite so obvious!) and hadn’t originally anticipated putting them online.
If, for whatever reason, I do switch the screens back one day I’ll do another set. I think it’s unlikely though as I’d rather buy a new laptop than go back to the Truelife screen.
Amazingly, this is the only screen comparison outside of Dell’s own website that I could find with pictures. This is VERY helpful. I’ve seen reflective True-Life screens from competitors (HP calls is “UltraBright” I think) and its soooo inticing. But it is what it is…reflective. Ever notice how Best Buy puts all their Plasma HDTVs in a darkened area or entirely separate room on the salesfloor? There’s a reason for that, but last time I checked my family room has windows.
I wish I could get the crisp, high-contrast picture of a reflective screen with the anti-glare of a regular LCD, don’t you? Oh well, the non-True Life is defintely where I’m going. Thanks!
